The Kalashnikov Concern has created a new outfit and a set of equipment for special units soldiers performing tasks in the conditions of the Arctic and the Far North. Information about this appeared on the company's website.
Concern "Kalashnikov" is one of the largest domestic manufacturers of weapons and military equipment. In addition to military products, the company manufactures sports rifles, hunting rifles, tools, machine tools and even vehicles with an electric power plant.
Earlier, the head of Rostec corporation, Sergey Chemezov, in his interview to RIA Novosti news agency, announced plans to increase the output of the multifunctional combat equipment “Warrior”. According to him, the enterprises that are part of the corporation are ready to switch to mass production of the Ratnik next year.
Special Forces equipment for the Arctic and the Far North
In recent years, Russia has paid much attention to the protection of its northern borders. In the Arctic zone, active construction of military facilities is underway: new bases are being laid, airfields are being restored. In addition, the domestic military-industrial complex is actively working to create modifications of military equipment capable of operating in the most difficult conditions of the Far North. Earlier, the public was presented to the Tor-M2DT and Pantsir-SA anti-aircraft missile systems. However, the troops are not strong with a single technique.
According to the experts of the Kalashnikov concern, the structure of the new Arctic equipment includes more than forty items, including a special sleeping bag, a Nanook suit, containers designed for transporting products and medicines in low temperatures and much more. The above elements passed field tests during the expedition, which was held in March this year on the Yamal Peninsula and Taimyr in the most severe conditions. The kit was created with the participation of specialists from the Association for the Promotion of the Development of the Arctic Territory "Northern Troops" and the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"All items of equipment were tested by Kalashnikov specialists and servicemen of the Russian Defense Ministry during the Arctic expedition in March 2018 on the Yamal and Taimyr Peninsulas. The temperature during the tests reached -47C, the wind - up to 25 meters per second and higher, humidity up to 100 % ", - reported on the website of the concern.
You can also add that the elements of equipment were demonstrated during the recent military-technical forum "Army-2018". However, while the timing of the completion of testing equipment, as well as plans for its acceptance into service are unknown.
Other new items from the famous manufacturer
Earlier it was reported that the Kalashnikov concern developed a new AK-308 assault rifle for 7.62x51 mm ammunition. Some elements and components of AK-12 were used in its construction. Currently, prototypes of these weapons are factory tested. The new machine will have a magazine with a capacity of 20 rounds. Weight AK-308 without ammunition will be 4.3 kg, and length - 880-940 mm. In addition, the weapon will be equipped with a diopter sight and a folding adjustable butt. If necessary, it will be possible to install a bayonet on the machine.
In early 2018, several types of small arms were adopted by the Russian army: AK-12, AK-15 assault rifles, developed by the Kalashnikov Concern, as well as AEK-971 and AEK-973, created by the specialists of the M.A. Degtyarev.
