Parang - machete from Malaysia only

Parang is not for nothing called the Malaysian machete, since these two knives have the same main activity for which they are used, namely cutting. In Malaysia, there is much more vegetation in the forests than in South America. In order to comfortably cut a path in such a forest, you need a rather heavy and large knife. The parang blade has an average length of 30 cm, and its mass does not exceed 750 grams.

On some islands, parang, as it should be, is used for cutting various vegetation in forests, for this purpose it is worn on a belt in a wooden sheath or in a sheath of various fibers of natural origin. But no less often, the parang is used as a weapon by members of various street gangs. Malaysian robbers prefer this knife, most likely because of its impressive appearance.
