Two US Marine Corps collide near the Japanese coast

On December 6, at about 2:00 in the air over the Pacific Ocean, two aircraft of the American Marine Corps collided near the Japanese coast.

The F / A-18 fighter crashed with two servicemen aboard during air refueling. Tanker C-130, carrying five people, also crashed, according to CBS, citing US Marines.

"The plane that was injured in the accident started at the Iwakuni Air Force Marine Station and conducted regular scheduled training when the incident occurred," a statement released by USNI News said.

The UH-60 helicopter from the Humamatsu aviation rescue squadron set out to search at 4:06 am, soon followed by other helicopters. At 5:43 am, an SH-60 helicopter rescued one of the F / A-18 crew members, who are reportedly in stable condition.

Two more people were discovered by the Japanese naval self-defense forces, which conduct search and rescue operations both with the help of surface ships and with the help of aircraft. The first person, at the time of discovery, was in good health, while the state of the second was unclear. They were taken to a local medical facility to assess their health.

Search and rescue operations continue for the remaining five US Marines who were aboard the C-130 and F / A-18.
