Jetpack will help the military to run faster

Innovative tool for military purposes

A simple philistine Jetpack familiar with fantastic movies and computer games. For example, it could be seen in the comedy action movie "Kick-Ass". Now they are interested in the US Armed Forces. The invention can be used by soldiers to move faster on the battlefield.

American experts were able to create a working prototype jet pack, mounted on the back of a man. The satchel allows you to overcome the kilometer distance in a shorter period. This project is another step towards the creation of combat exoskeletons, which give an advantage in speed and maneuverability.

Mile in 4 minutes

The main goal of the 4MM (Four Minute Mile - Trans. Mile in 4 minutes) is an advantage in speed and agility. The device allows you to significantly save power. As a result of the tests, it was substantially reworked: the lifting power was reduced so that the soldier did not fly up, but instant thrust was added, which adds speed when running. The military order was jointly developed by the University of Arizona and the United States Agency for Advanced Study (DARPA). Their task was to create a device that would give a real advantage to an ordinary person and without overloading him. The result exceeded all expectations.

Innovative Jetpack weighs 5 kilograms, but this is not a burden. Volunteers showed a very good result - they ran 200 meters on average for 25 seconds and did not feel tired at the same time. Such an advantage in running on the battlefield can save a soldier's life.

Jetpack is not the only such project DARPA. In parallel, the agency is developing a flexible military exoskeleton. Perhaps their creations will also be useful in a peaceful life.
