Venezuela became the first Latin American country to decide to adopt the third-generation tracked infantry fighting vehicles of the third-generation infantry fighting vehicles.

With the beginning of the well-known events marked by dual power in the country, the army, which supported the legally elected President Maduro, embarked on serious reforms. Started with the ground forces. The units began to receive the main T-72B1V tanks, self-propelled artillery mounts 2C19 Msta-S, 2C23 Nona-SVK, rocket systems Smerch and Grad.
The BTR-80A and BMP-3 entered infantry, mechanized and armored brigades. The last were ordered more than 120 pieces. This number also included commander variants and repair and evacuation BREM-L "Beglyanka".
Currently, the technique is well mastered by the Venezuelan military, it is actively used, regularly used during various exercises. BMP-3 will take part in large-scale maneuvers, which will begin on February 10 and last for 5 days.
