Masters of Izhevsk plant "Kupol" have developed a complex that allows you to work out the reflection of group attacks of unmanned vehicles.
When a coordinated attack is made by a flock of UAVs, it can be quite difficult to fight off. To work out the actions of anti-aircraft calculations, a target complex, called the "Adjutant", has been developed that can imitate a swarm of drones.
The development of a target complex that simulates the flight and attack of a pack of drones is an urgent task of our time. Two operators Adjutant are able to fly up to six training targets and simultaneously manage them.
In fact, the fight against the UAV - not the easiest thing. UAVs initially proved to be an effective means of reconnaissance, helicopter-type devices with four rotors were in particular demand - they are called quadcopters. But today developed and operated devices, which are installed on 6 or 8 screws.
This technique has gained popularity among photographers and video operators. It can provide a very spectacular shooting, but in the meantime, the UAV can be used for covert surveillance or sabotage. For example, an attempt was recently made to assassinate the leader of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro. For this purpose, unmanned vehicles equipped with explosives were used. The attempt was foiled by accident.
An even greater threat is combat unmanned vehicles. At first, everyone believed that in order to eliminate them, it was enough to turn on the EW equipment and simply mute the control signals.
How to fight them
But over time, it became clear that there are drones that are invulnerable to remote suppression, which make movement in space in accordance with a previously laid down program. EW facilities do not work against such devices. In addition, during the unmanned attacks began to use swarm tactics. And the most modern means of air defense were powerless against it.
That is why the development of a target complex called “ADJUTANT”, which simulates the flight and attack of a pack of unmanned vehicles, has become topical.
During the work of the complex, the situation is extremely close to the combat one. Some devices can move at the same height, others at another. Speed modes can also be different.
According to the project director of the Izhevsk plant "Kupol", the initial appointment of the "Adjutant" was the provision of training and combat firing, performed on the Thor anti-aircraft complexes. But in the course of development, the engineers of the Dome found a new purpose for this product.
After receiving the first results, it became clear that this system is useful not only to the “Torah”. It can be used in the work of portable air defense systems, near and medium fire systems. Not so long ago, tests were completed on long-range systems.
In addition to simulating unmanned vehicles, the targets of the Adjutant complex can imitate any type of cruise missiles. That is, to fly in all modes and with all the loads characteristic of a real cruise missile.
The maximum flight altitude of the target is within 100 meters. This is the optimum height for opening the landing parachute. However, for training and combat shooting, the target has the ability to fly much lower, as well as real conventional enemy cruise missiles. The project director noted that in order to increase the visibility of the target, mounting points for corner or lens reflectors are provided.
It is noted that all the parameters of the target have already been tested at the Central Research Institute of the Aerospace Defense Forces in Tver.
The manufacturer of the complex is the Kupol enterprise. It is on it that the Tor-2M anti-aircraft missile systems have been manufactured, this system has been supplied to the RF armed forces since 2016.
