Ukraine plans to begin testing the anti-ship complex "Neptune"

In 2018, Ukraine plans to begin testing the newest anti-ship complex "Neptune", developed in Kiev Luch. According to information obtained from open sources, at the moment several prototype rockets are ready for testing.

A whole group of Ukrainian enterprises of the military-industrial complex are taking part in the development of new anti-ship missiles, including Luch Design Bureau, Yuzhmash Dnipropetrovsk, Khartron Kharkov and Motor Sich of Zaporozhye. It should also be said that only Ukrainian companies participate in this project.

New anti-ship missile "Neptune" will have three options for basing: air, coastal and ship. Neptune is being developed to defeat surface targets with a displacement of up to 5 thousand tons, and its characteristics are likely to be similar to the latest Russian Bal-E anti-ship missiles.

Talk about developments in the field of creating high-precision rocket weapons has been going on in Ukraine for a long time. At the end of 2018, the deputy chief of armaments of the Ukrainian army, Vyacheslav Shostak, announced the immediate replenishment of the arsenals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with similar types of weapons. At the same time, the appearance of the new rocket was first demonstrated. It has a container start, the length of the rocket with a starting accelerator is 5050 mm.

New anti-ship cruise missile can completely solve the problem of the defense of the coast and territorial waters of Ukraine.

It should be noted that in the last year of work in the field of creating their own missile systems in Ukraine, they became significantly more active. At present, Yuzhnoye Design Bureau is developing a fundamentally new operational-tactical complex “Grom”, which should replace the outdated “Tochka-U” missiles created in the Soviet period. "Thunder" plan to equip the newest cruise missile "Kite", also being developed ballistic missiles for this complex.

Since 2009, the Yuzhnoye design bureau has been working on the creation of the Ukrainian single tactical complex Sapsan.

The Yuzhnoye design bureau has been working on the creation of Ukrainian tactical missiles for a long time, but the funding allocated in previous years has been scanty. As a visual illustration, one fact can be cited: the development of the Kite project was carried out by Dnepropetrovsk designers on an initiative basis (read for your own money).

Ukraine has all the capabilities and resources to create its own unified tactical missile system, which is not inferior in its characteristics to the Russian Iskander. The main advantage of such high-precision rocket weapons is that in the event of aggression, the strategic objects of the enemy (command posts, communications centers, airfields) can be destroyed with one blow.

Also, Ukrainian manufacturers expect that such complexes will find a buyer on the world market.
