The State Duma of the Russian Federation has recently passed a law that orders recruits to get up for military registration at the place of actual residence, and not at the place of registration, as it was before.
The explanatory note to the bill states that today a large number of recruits are trained in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other major cities. At the same time, they are not always able to obtain registration in these cities, as a result of which they are not put on military registration.
“By the law, citizens who do not have registration at the place of residence or place of stay are required to get up on military registration at the place of their actual residence,” the State Duma noted.
It clarifies the RBC, registration will be carried out by the military commissariats in the place indicated by citizens in a statement as the place of their stay. Also, these amendments will force to register young people at the place of stay.
In addition, according to the legislators, the proposed measures will reduce the burden on the military registration and enlistment offices in the search for young men evading military service.
