Having started to explore the Arctic, Russia also looked into the nearest space and was puzzled by the question of the belonging and probable further colonization of the lunar territories. To this end, Roskosmos and the Russian Academy of Sciences have offered to begin training specialists in space law.
It is reported RIA Novosti.
According to the initiators, specialists in space law are needed to give a decent answer to those who sell off lots on the Moon for big money, as well as for a competent legal distribution of mineral resources that will be mined anyway.
By the way, legal specialists on lunar territorial disputes, according to the Russian Academy of Sciences, should be trained in such universities as Moscow State University and RUDN.
Recall, according to Article 11 of the Agreement on the Activities of States on the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, approved by the UN General Assembly in 1979, the natural satellite of the Earth "is not subject to national appropriation either by proclaiming sovereignty or using it by occupation or by any other means" .
However, NASA and western partners are currently working on a project for the international near-moon station Gateway.
Russia, most likely, will create its station in the lunar orbit together with the BRICS countries.
