How Ukraine traded Russia for Boeing

Ukrainian aircraft manufacturers continue the policy of refusing to cooperate with Russian enterprises: they are now excluded from the list of suppliers for the An-178 aircraft. This was announced on his Facebook page by President Petro Poroshenko.

The realities of modern Ukrainian import substitution

An-178 is a short-haul transport aircraft developed by designers of the Antonov State Enterprise. The first flight of this machine took place in 2015, now it is being tested.

Until 2014, Russian enterprises supplied about a third of components for cargo and passenger aircraft of this family, including chassis elements, avionics, and an auxiliary power unit.

An-178 was presented at the international exhibition Farnborough Airshow 2018, during which Ukrainians entered into an agreement with Aviall Services (a subsidiary of Boeing), involving the supply of Western components for the aircraft.

In his message, Poroshenko noted that now the share of Ukrainian elements in the design of the An-178 is 78%, the rest will be purchased in the West. Russian enterprises are excluded from the list of contractors.
