The new "Lotus" self-propelled gun of 120 mm caliber will be produced already with the standard armored vehicles protection complex against high-precision weapons. The complex is based on the principle of optoelectronic suppression of guidance systems on the target of the attacking guided munitions. It was developed on the basis of TsNIItochmash (Rostec State Corporation).
The armored vehicles protection complex consists of the equipment for detecting fact and the attack sector and the system for setting up optical-electronic interference in the direction of the attack in order to disrupt the control of the attacking ammunition. The jamming system includes aerosol munitions, launchers for launching ammunition, and control equipment for issuing commands to launchers.
When an attack is detected, the equipment independently sends signals to launchers that launch aerosol ammunition in the required direction, taking into account the direction of the wind. When launched from the body of ammunition takes off a block of cartridges with aerosol-forming filling. In flight, the cassettes are sequentially triggered and form an aerosol cloud of interference in the visible, infrared, and radio frequency ranges of the wavelengths, providing protection for the combat vehicle.
