A new technology for fueling rockets was patented at the NPO Mashinostroeniya. This company is the leading developer of the Stilett and Avangard missiles.
Nowadays, on the launch pads, the refueling method developed many decades ago is used. It looks like this.
Propellant components are delivered to the starting position in railway tanks. Then they are pumped into storage. There he is brought to a certain state and after that the fuel ready for use in the tank is transported to the launch pad, and the missile is filled.
This technology has been tested for years, but over time it loses its reliability. The thing is that the equipment produced in the USSR is still in operation. It needs careful maintenance and repair, but many parts and assemblies have already been discontinued. As a result, this method ceases to meet modern requirements for reliability and safety.
This situation forced to look for another method of refueling. The method was found and developed. The bottom line is this: mobile devices are used for refueling, which are downloaded from a tank into a special container that is part of a mobile unit. It also is preparing the fuel for refueling. As soon as it is ready, the mobile unit independently delivers it to the launch pad.
The developers of this method are confident that its use will allow to obtain certain advantages in several directions at once.
So, having at its disposal several complexes, the rocket men get the opportunity to transfer tankers to any place where they plan to launch. Devices for refueling missiles constructed using modern element base and this allows you to create a fully automated refueling process. In the end, the patented method is safer than it is now used.
The composition of the fuel required for the flight of the rocket includes such substances as amyl and heptyl. They are classified as substances of the first group of danger. Using a new method of refueling allows to reduce the number of abnormal situations that occur during refueling, and as a result, dangerous operations - redocking. Fuel with the participation of these components is used in the Stiletto-type missiles, which are the carrier of Avangard.
