By the end of this year, the Russian Avangard mobile soil strategic missile system will be put into service with the Strategic Missile Forces. He has a serious difference from a fellow named "Yars". Avangard has a hypersonic guided combat unit. This is today unique for this kind of weapons. He will also be equipped with an intercontinental ballistic missile of a heavy class UR-100N UTTH.
As is known, for the first time about this rocket complex was mentioned by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his message on March 3 of this year. After that, the liberal press of the Motherland and a number of Western media ironically noted, they say, this is just a fantasy of the Russian head. It turned out not. "Vanguard" exists. And will soon begin combat duty.
According to the TASS news agency, new missile systems will be deployed as early as next year.
It is planned that at first only two complexes will be equipped. However, in the foreseeable future, Avangard will be placed in two regiments of the Strategic Missile Forces in the amount of 12 complexes, six in each. Most likely, according to TASS, both regiments are part of the 13th missile division of the Orenburg Red Banner division of the 31st missile army of the Strategic Missile Forces.
As for the carrier, the UR-100N UTTH rocket weighs 105 tons and can deliver up to 6 warheads. The maximum range of its flight is 6000 km. In the near future its modernization is planned. It is possible that its flight range will increase significantly.
At the moment, Avangard is the essential response of the United States to their withdrawal from the INF Treaty.
It is not excluded that in the future new shelves equipped with Avangard complexes will be formed.
