In the near future, the Russian army will get into service a new artillery and mortar complex "Sketch". About this in an interview with the publication "Moskovsky Komsomolets" said Commander of the Ground Forces, Colonel-General Oleg Salyukov. In an interview with journalists, he, among other things, paid a lot of attention to new weapons, which should soon go to the troops.
"Sketch" is a battalion-level weapons complex. According to the general, it is being developed on different types of chassis, including an option that will allow its use in arctic latitudes.
It should be noted that recently, several modifications of military equipment, created specifically for use in the conditions of the Far North, have been adopted.
Complex "Sketch": what is part of it?
On October 1, the start of preliminary tests of Magnolia and Phlox self-propelled artillery mounts, as well as the Drock mortar, which were developed as part of the Sketch project, were reported to TASS journalists by the press service of Uralvagonzavod. Earlier, similar information was announced at the Petrel Research Institute, which also participates in this project. They clarified that the Magnolia CJSC has a caliber of 120 mm and it is mounted on a two-link tracked chassis that is ideal for use on soft soils, the 120-mm Phlox is mounted on the Ural wheeled, and the Drock self-propelled caliber 82 mm - on the Kamaz wheeled chassis.
Also in "Petrel" reported the serious interest of the military in the "Outline". This development work is included in the State Armaments Program. It is planned that as a result of its implementation, the Russian army will receive a whole family of modern highly mobile artillery weapons of the battalion link. In addition, according to the manufacturer, "Flox" has already become interested in foreign customers. However, it is too early to talk about this.
Other innovations for the Army
In an interview with the commander-in-chief, Salyukov also spoke about other updates of military equipment that the military expects to receive in the near future. According to the general, the work on the creation of the artillery complex "Coalition-SV" is nearing completion - they are already at the final stage. This ACS will receive a new ability - the Squall mode of fire, in which shells fired at different angles hit the target almost simultaneously. According to the Commander-in-Chief, this installation is several times higher than its foreign counterparts in its characteristics.
Salyukov also spoke on the projects of Armata, Kurganets and Boomerang. According to him, in the near future the army will begin to receive combat vehicles created on the basis of these platforms. Recall a few months ago, a number of Russian officials announced the refusal of large-scale purchases of “Almaty” and “Kurgants”. True, then this information was refuted.
In addition, the general announced the completion of the creation of the Arctic modification of the Top-2M anti-aircraft missile system, which will be able to hit all types of air targets both from the spot and during movement.
Last Thursday in the "Uralvagonzavod" reported that the company will be engaged in the modernization of the most powerful artillery complexes "Pion". It is assumed that it will be completed by 2019. Updated "Peonies" will receive more advanced communications equipment and surveillance devices. In addition, their running gear and power plant will be improved. Also, the company's specialists are engaged in the modernization of the Tulip super-powerful mortar, which should be completed in 2020. Combat vehicles will receive modern means of communication and surveillance, their anti-nuclear protection will also be improved.
