Hamas receives information from the phones of Israeli soldiers through fake dating apps

The criminal group is trying to fraudulently attract the interest of Israeli soldiers to fake applications and get secret information from the phones.

Hamas makes false reference pages in social networks, using them to get acquainted with Israeli soldiers. Most often, these are accounts of young girls who first meet and communicate with a man, and then offer to install a malicious application. One of these is called "GlanceLove", it is intended for dating. Another fake application called "GoldenCap" - it shows the results of sporting events.

After the malware is installed in the smartphone, a special program is activated and the collection of all data in the phone begins, starting with the memory of the smartphone and ending with the camera and microphone. All information is transmitted to the criminal gang Hamas. This discovery forced the Israeli military to take care and take appropriate measures, because the security of the entire country was at stake.

For the first time, the Israeli armed forces discovered similar activities in 2017. At that time, rules were introduced restricting the military in the use of social networks, but this did not give the desired effect. In addition, a hotline was created, calling on which any soldier could tell about attempts to break into and steal information.

This year, the Israeli armed forces were forced to change the rules, adding and tightening them. And for the soldiers conduct special training, where each soldier is taught how to calculate the criminals, and not to succumb to their tricks.

According to the head of the Israeli information security department, at the moment most of the soldiers did an excellent job with the opposition to bogus accounts and reported to the management. The country's security has not suffered, and the situation is under control. This incident helped uncover an entire link in the Hamas criminal group that dealt with social networks to collect data.
