Margolin Pistol: the history of creation and performance characteristics

Margolin Pistol is a Soviet small-caliber self-loading pistol designed for sport shooting at a special round target in the MP-5 exercise at a distance of 25 meters. The pistol is distinguished by its durability, good performance characteristics and shooting qualities. Margolin Pistol is a versatile sports weapon. It is used both for elementary education and for competitions, including for high-speed shooting at quickly emerging targets. For shooting, the so-called "long" cartridges of lateral ignition of 5.6 mm caliber are used. Since 1952, Margolin pistol is made under the "short" cartridge. The gun was slightly upgraded and is now being released under the name MCM. From 1954 to 1974 was used at international competitions. For shooting training applied to the present.

History of creation

The gun was created by Mikhail Vladimirovich Margolin. The designer decided to create his main weapon after conversations with the brigade commander Smirnitsky, in which they discussed the importance of developing mass shooting in the country. The obstacle to this was the lack of specialized sporting weapons, and therefore Margolin, as early as 1938, began to develop the blueprints and the device for an educational and sports small-caliber pistol. Unfortunately, the war prevented its development. After graduation, Margolin resumed work, and in 1946, a small-caliber Margolin pistol was created, which looked like a TT. However, the original device of the gun was not well-established, so the designer had to deal with its refinement.

The first five improved pistols produced in 1947. Documentation and drawings were prepared in TsKIB SOO, therefore, the Margolin system weapons received the abbreviation MC. Margolin makes constant improvements and corrections to his brainchild.

The serial edition of the MCM was organized in 1948. The device of the pistol was so successful that it was recognized as the best sports weapon, it is still used in the initial training of shooters, including for international competitions.

Design features

  1. Margolin system weapons use the automatic principle, built on the recoil of the free shutter. The pistol has a trigger trigger, making it possible to adjust the free play of the trigger.
  2. Under the barrel is a return spring with a rod. Handle accommodates single row type magazine
  3. Inside the barrel there is a rifled bore with six grooves directed upwards to the right. Outside, the barrel has a cylindrical shape with the tide in the muzzle for the front sight and the thread in the breech for connecting with the frame. For the installation of compensators, some samples have cutting in the muzzle, closed by a special coupling
  4. Shock-trigger mechanism МЦМ consists of a spring, a trigger with an axle and a yoke, whispered with an axle and a spring, a trigger thrust with a spring, a trigger hook with a spring, a hammer with a spring. At the top of the trigger has a notched head, and at the bottom - two protrusions and a hole for the axis
  5. Micrometric sight. Its adjustment is carried out by horizontal displacement of the rear sight, including the flies vertically. This ensures accuracy and stability of the adjustment. The gun can be equipped with a muzzle compensator, weights for changing balancing and a hand-held orthopedic device.
