The military in the United States actively use artificial intelligence in air defense and missile defense systems

The other day, Assistant US Secretary of State Bruce Jetty made a sensational statement: the United States is actively introducing artificial intelligence into weapons systems. Basically, they are equipped with air defense and missile defense systems.

To date, according to a military American official, a center has been set up at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh for development in the field of artificial intelligence. And there they are engaged in its development in the so-called operational context. That is, they are considering how to speed up the decision-making process, because "time is a weapon," the Russian TASS quotes Bruce Jetty.

- Let's say you fire at me from a whole range of artillery guns, and I can knock down these shells, but it will take human intervention for every return shot. So, there are not enough people to do this quickly enough in each such case, ”said Jetty. - How can the hardware of the artificial intelligence, its architecture be created in the Armed Forces and at the same time pursue appropriate policies? These are the questions that we are now fighting, ”the representative of the Pentagon explained the situation.

However, people brought up in the movie "Terminator" are cautiously wondering: how are weapons systems controlled by artificial intelligence? There is a clear answer to this question - so far only online.
