TsNIITOCHMASH, part of the state corporation Rostec, for the first time showed to the general public the appearance of a new self-propelled gun designed for the Russian Airborne Forces.
In October 2018, the head of the research institute said that the institute began work on the creation of a new artillery system "Lotos", designed to replace the self-propelled gun "Nona-S".
The creation of any military equipment, and in particular artillery, requires not only creative inspiration. Beyond the limits of a strict technical assignment, there is always something more.
Each designer and designer sees the appearance of the product in advance. The starting point in the assignment of the name of the new ACS is not in vain was the lotus flower. Despite the apparent fragility, he manages to grow in very harsh conditions. Practically, the lotus is a combination of beauty, grace and strength.
The design of the "Lotus" self-propelled gun, which has high ballistic parameters and effective ammunition, is designed according to the "golden section" principle and pleases the eye with each facet.
The company reported that work on the "Lotus" is carried out in order to increase the fire capabilities of the airborne troops of the Russian Federation.
The prototype is being assembled
Nowadays, a prototype product is being assembled and debugged at the production base of TsNIITOCHMASH JSC. When designing it, original engineering solutions were used, which allowed us to improve ergonomics, survivability and many operational parameters of armored vehicles.
Meanwhile, the main combat parameters of self-propelled guns have not yet been disclosed. The institute said that the data on tactical and technical parameters before the tests will be kept secret.
