The Russian army may soon receive new hypersonic cartridges for sniper complexes. The development of these munitions is engaged in a private production company Lobaev Arms, which specializes in the production of long-range large-caliber sniper rifles "Sevastopol", "Diversant", "Stalingrad", "Retribution" and "Dusk". The chief designer of the company, Vladislav Lobayev, told reporters from the RIA Novosti news agency.
In addition, gunsmiths plan to introduce a new self-loading sniper complex with unique characteristics by the end of this year. It is possible that in the near future it will replace the deserved, but already outdated, self-loading rifles of the SVD.

The bullet of the new sniper cartridge will have an initial speed of about 2 thousand meters per second, which will significantly increase the armor penetration and ballistic characteristics of the ammunition, in particular, its flatness. The shooter will be able to fire at a distance of a thousand meters without amending.
“I think, with a certain state support, they are already able to create a sniper cartridge with a starting speed of 2,000 meters per second for a year. This is already a hypersound,” said Vladislav Lobaev, chief designer of the company, told reporters. He also added that the ammunition cartridges instead of the usual powder will be equipped with a special detonating composition, which is its main "highlight".
In addition, in the plans of gunsmiths to submit before the end of the year a new self-loading rifle, which can hit targets at distances of about two kilometers. It will be produced in calibers 9.53 × 77 and 10.4 × 77 mm and will have accuracy of 0.5 MOA (minute of angle). And in early 2019, the company promises to submit another “self-charging” chambered for 8.6 × 70 mm.
Self-loading sniper rifles significantly reduce the skill requirements of the shooter, which significantly reduces the cost and time to prepare it. “Due to the possibility of making a quick re-shot, a self-loading rifle reduces the qualification requirements of the sniper and saves time and money on his preparation. It’s one thing to shoot 800 meters from the SVD, and another to suppress the firing point at a distance of two kilometers. the goal from the first shot, you need to calculate everything very precisely, ”the chief designer explained.
Currently in the world there are no sniper complexes with similar characteristics. A large-caliber sniper rifle of the Kord KOLV, which is currently in service with the Russian army, can "boast" with a accuracy of 2-3 MOA. Therefore, such complexes are usually used to destroy large objects: light armored vehicles, cars, radar stations, low-flying helicopters.
