The armed forces of the Republic of Poland ordered 40 tactical unmanned aerial vehicles Orlik PGZ-19R (UAV) for a number of auxiliary operations.
The deal announced by the Ministry of Defense of Poland on November 30 is estimated at about $ 209 million.
It is expected that the first unmanned aerial vehicles and simulators will be delivered to the armed forces of the Republic of Poland in 2021.
The contract provides for the delivery of 8 tactical UAV "Orlik" complexes, including almost 40 unmanned aerial vehicles. The complex consists of five PGZ-19R UAVs with sensors, a ground control station (GCS) and a primary satellite communications kit.
The UAV was developed by WZL-2 (Wojskowe Zaklady Lotnicze) in partnership with PIT-Radwar as a reconnaissance vehicle for ground forces. While the WZL-2 is responsible for the vehicle and acts as the project manager and integrator, the responsibilities of PIT-Radwar include work on the ground control station.
Orlik PGZ-19R can transmit high-quality data in real time and work at significant distances from the launch point. The PGZ-19 has a hybrid engine and is powered by a pneumatic take-off system. Its maximum take-off weight ranges from 80 to 90 kg with a lifting capacity of 20 kilograms.
According to the WZL-2, the PGZ-19R cruising speed ranges from 120 to 180 km / h, and its range is up to 150 kilometers. It can stay aloft for up to 12 hours. Its stated ceiling is 5000 meters. The wing span of the PGZ-19 is 5.25 meters, and the hull length is 3.1 meters.
