France experienced a new ATGM in real combat

Just the other day, the French military successfully tested their new ATGM. Moreover, the tests took place in a real battle in the state of Mali.

According to the press service of the French armory company MBDA Missile Systems, the French Picardy combat group for the first time used the MMP missile system in combat operations.

Recall, the ATGM MMP officially entered service with the French army in November 2017. In the course of further tests, the "French Javelin" (as it is called in France, comparing with the American counterpart) surpassed the declared combat capabilities. And recently, a new ATGM was used in a battle that took place in Mali. The soldiers were satisfied with the result of the application and ease of MMP management.

Recall that the MMP (in translation means Missile Moyenne Portee - medium-range missiles) has been developed by MBDA since 2011, and in 2013 the manufacturer and the French Defense Ministry signed a contract to supply 2,850 missiles and 400 launchers for the French army.

MMP refers to the fifth-generation ground combat complexes with a combined-type guidance system. The maximum range of the MMP missiles is 5 km.
