The head of the Georgian Defense Ministry’s military science and technology center Delta Ucha Dzidzuashvili, during his report on the results of the center’s activities on December 27, stated that, among other achievements, Delta had an agreement with Indonesia on the manufacture and supply of Didgori armored evacuation vehicles.
The Indonesian side has already paid the advance payment established by the agreement, relevant work is being carried out in Georgia. But at the same time the details of the agreement are not disclosed.
If the information is confirmed, then Indonesia will be the second customer of this armored vehicle, which is made on the basis of Didgori 2, which has 4 * 4 wheel shape, the first buyer of this vehicle was Saudi Arabia. The contract for the supply of armored vehicles of this brand to Saudi Arabia was signed in December 2015. The contract value was about $ 100 million. The first batch, consisting of 12 units, was sent to the buyer’s country on January 30, 2016. The vehicles delivered within the boundaries of this treaty were used during hostilities in Yemen.
Ucha Dzidzuashvili also reported that the Delta Scientific and Technical Center received an additional contract for the manufacture and supply of machines of this class to Saudi Arabia. Works on its execution are carried out in accordance with the schedule.
The Didgori AMEV armored medical evacuation vehicle, which was developed at Delta SEC, is a development of Didgori 2 armored vehicles. It is made on the chassis of a Ford F-550 pickup truck having 4 * 4 wheel formula.
The manufacture of AMEV cars and Didgori armored vehicles takes place at the Tbilaviamisheni industrial site (Tbilisi Aviation Plant). It should be noted that the Didgori 1⁄2 basic armored car was not developed in Georgia. There is an assumption that it was designed by a foreign company on the basis of an order from the Georgian Defense Ministry.
