The United States, through diplomatic channels, notified the leadership of Russia that they did quit the Treaty on Medium and Short Range Missiles completely and irrevocably. The verdict is final and not subject to further discussion. This was reported to the media by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
Certainly, the reason to accuse Russia that has overflowed the American patience is the 9M729 rocket. Like, it is fundamentally violating the contract. That is, it can be launched from the ground and overcome more than 500 km with nuclear warheads. However, according to official Moscow, this rocket was not developed or tested for a distance exceeding the established limit.
“Almost immediately, this intention was confirmed to us through bilateral channels, and a clear explanation was given that the announced step was not an invitation to dialogue, but the decision was made due to the combination of circumstances and is final,” RIA Novosti quotes Sergei Ryabkov as saying.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, many of the arguments for violation by Russia of the INF Treaty were fabricated by Washington. In the US, there are interested parties who do not want the US to comply with the terms of the contract. And these individuals are in a hurry to prevent Russia from refuting their false or fabricated information in the course of a technical expert dialogue.
“In practice, this means that for the period of the so-called suspension, the contract will continue, remaining binding on the parties,” Sergey Ryabkov emphasized.
