Gas-69 is one of those cars of the Gorky plant, which was equipped with all-wheel drive. Production of the car lasted for 20 years. Vehicles turned out to be of high quality, had unusual construction solutions. Nothing of the kind was created in the future, and Gas-69 was remembered for a long time by motorists.

History of Gas-69

The first prototype of the passenger car Gas-69 4x4 appeared in 1948. On the conveyor production, he entered after 5 years, passing all the necessary tests. The design involved a team of experienced engineers. Initially, he was called "Worker", but then the nickname "Kozlik" was fixed among the people.

The car was produced in two versions: a two-door and a five-door body with 8 seats. In 1954, the production of the two-door version was transferred to the UAZ plant, since 1956 both versions of the machine were assembled at the Ulyanovsk plant.

The basis of the 69th was Gaz-67, which received many positive reviews after the war. Some components and structural solutions were taken from transports of other plants. Unlike the 67th, this car was used not for military purposes.

A few years after the start of production, Gas-69 appeared in demand abroad. Soon it was delivered to many countries and was not inferior in popularity to Land Rover jeeps. In 1957, in Romania, they began to produce this transport, and in 1962 - in North Korea.

Some machines still use. They have been faithful and uninterrupted service for over 50 years. After the collapse of the USSR, more Gas-69 appeared on public roads, as the army was reduced, and many military copies were sold out of conservation.

Specifications

Vehicles designed for quick off-road driving. Rama Gas-69 was made from sheet steel. All-metal body was simplified, it was installed on the basis for the installation of an awning. The awning along with the base can be quickly removed and transported with you. For added convenience, mounts for a shovel, an ax and a stretcher were installed on the body.

Some design solutions have allowed to simplify the structure and extend the service life. Razdatka Gas-69 is deprived of direct transmission. Due to this, the load on the "active" parts of the transmission was reduced. Differential locking was abolished, as it did not have a special impact on the patency of the car.

Box Gas-69 mechanical, has 3 gears and one rear. The suspension design does not provide a comfortable ride on direct urban roads: initially, transport was planned for movement in rural areas and off-road.

Janitors are located not below, but above. Overcoming obstacles is provided by the high ground clearance, the size of the wings and bumpers and low weight cars. The design does not have GUR, but this does not affect the convenience of taxiing: no special efforts are required, the steering wheel is easy to turn and listen to the driver.
