The Federal Agency for Air Transport of the Russian Federation (Rosaviatsia) issued an approval for the use of the Ansat helicopter at altitudes up to 3,500 m. This approval was obtained from tests that were conducted in the summer of 2018 on Elbrus. The presence of such a document suggests that the Ansat helicopter can be used in high-altitude conditions.
Not so long ago, the permissible altitude of its flight did not exceed 1000 m. I must say that this imposed a significant restriction on flights in the mountains. In the process of certification tests, Ansat successfully completed a certain number of takeoffs and landings. Were conducted and flights with an imitation of the regime of autorotation. The test results showed that the helicopter can be operated in high altitude conditions.
Andrei Boginsky, head of the Russian Helicopters holding, noted that changing one of the key parameters of the helicopter opens up new operational opportunities. That is, it is possible to attract customers from countries with a mountainous landscape. In the course of a demonstration flight conducted in 2018 across the states of Southeast Asia, many potential operators became interested in this machine. Improving the flight characteristics of the helicopter should have a positive impact on the negotiations on the supply of equipment.
