The Russian army will still receive tanks "Armata" in significant quantities. This was reported in the corporation "Rostec". Deliveries of new combat vehicles will be carried out according to the plans outlined in the State Arms Program 2018-2027. On the eve, the same information was confirmed by Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko. He said that at present there is a signed contract for the purchase of 132 T-14 Armata tanks and BMP T-15s created on its basis.
In recent days, serious discussions have flared up in the open spaces of the network regarding the further fate of the Armata family of modern armored vehicles - one of the most popular projects of the Russian military-industrial complex of recent years. The reason for such a "HYIP" was the recent statement by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov about the rejection of the massive purchases of "Armat" and "Boomerangs". According to the official, the samples of military equipment currently in service with the Russian army are in no way inferior to Western counterparts, so there is no point in spending money on new programs.
Now, several high-ranking officials at the Army-2018 military-technical forum say that all fears are groundless, and no one is going to reduce the purchase of “Armata”. Who to believe? One gets the impression that a serious struggle broke out between the representatives of the financial and economic bloc, who are trying to cut down on military spending, and a group lobbying the interests of the military-industrial complex and the army.
Why modern armor was not needed
Recall, July 30, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov made a statement that in the coming years, Russia will not massively switch to a new generation of combat vehicles. First of all, he was referring to armored vehicles, created on the basis of universal platforms "Armata" and "Boomerang." “We have no particular need for this, these models are quite expensive in relation to the existing ones. These models are the prospect of armored vehicles,” Borisov told reporters. In his opinion, the old Soviet machines still have significant modernization potential, using which Russia manages to maintain parity with the NATO countries, significantly losing the latter in the size of the defense budget.
In an interview, Borisov said that the existing models of armored vehicles are not inferior to Western counterparts, and even surpass them in some parameters: "If we have existing equipment today, for example, the modernized T-72 tank, the BMP-4 or the BTR-82 our capabilities were sharply inferior to the probable adversary, of course we would now force, buy new models. " "Well, why all the Armed Forces flooded with Armaty, our T-72 is in great demand in the market, everyone takes it, compared to Abrams, Leclerc, and Leopard, at a price, efficiency and quality significantly excels. The same situation with Boomerangs - added Deputy Prime Minister.
"Armata" still be?
But already on August 21, Borisov announced that the decision on the supply of Armat and Boomerang would be made by the Russian military department, taking into account the contracts signed earlier. "More than a hundred samples have already been contracted and are being sent to the troops," he said.
On the eve, this information was confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Defense Krivoruchko. He told reporters that there is currently a contract for the supply of 132 Armat 132 to the armed forces, as well as BMP based on it. This year, the military plan to put into operation nine T-14 tanks. The rest of the car MO is expected to receive until 2022. Also Krivoruchko transparently hinted that his department is not going to dwell on this quantity.
At the same venue of the Army-2018 forum, a representative of the manufacturer said that at the moment thirty combat vehicles are already based on the Armata platform.
