One of the most popular pistols of the USSR is the Makarov pistol or, as it is also called, PM. He gained immense popularity due to high quality and implementation of new ideas in his design. The gun received a unique double-action USM system with a safety device, which not only prevented puncturing the primer, but also completely blocked the bolt and trigger. The design of the Makarov pistol is very simple, it has 32 parts, which are connected using threaded technology. On its complete disassembly takes a few seconds.

Viy traumatic pistol in its appearance - a complete copy of the PM. The main differences are only in the diameter of the barrel and the inscription on the body of the gun, which reports the gun belonging to the traumatic class. If you want to remove the inscription "VIE 9MM", then you will have to try hard, as it is made of very deep engraving.
If the buyer needs to get such a weapon, which is easiest to make completely similar to the combat model of the PM, then Viy is an ideal option. But before that, you have to ask yourself, is it worth it? Of course, from some side, it is nice to have a traumatic weapon that completely copies the look of a battle one. But we must remember that this will not affect the technical characteristics.
Many people think that if the attacker sees in their hands a weapon similar to a military one, he will immediately be frightened and will nullify all his threats. But let's be frank. First, as a rule, attacks are carried out at night, when it is difficult to discern something. Secondly, even if you see something and it turns out, many people can understand that it is precisely in your hands that you have a traumatic weapon, since the PM counterparts are now found almost everywhere.
Of course, if a person needs an appearance to enjoy aesthetically, then Wii would be an excellent option. But if the buyer plans to use this weapon as a means for self-defense, then the main efforts should be thrown not on changing the appearance, but on fine-tuning the pistol, since it needs it.
Viy pistol design
Most of the parts of this gun saved from a combat model, but some parts are made from scratch to adapt the PM under the traumatic cartridges. These parts include the barrel - the most important element of a traumatic pistol. The internal diameter of the barrel in different models Viya ranges from 5.5 to 6.5 millimeters. Such a diameter value has a positive effect when using powerful ammunition.
But here, as in many other types of traumatics, the use of powerful cartridges is impossible on a standard return spring, as this may lead to incorrect operation of the pistol during firing. This problem is solved simply - the return spring is replaced with a more rigid one.
However, a problem arises: the diameter of the barrel is smaller than that of other types of traumatic weapons, so if you take the usual recoil spring, it will dangle on the barrel, which, although not something critical when shooting, doesn’t carry anything good in itself. This problem, in principle, is solved very simply: you simply need to compress the return spring with ordinary pliers to the desired diameter.

- 9mm PA cartridges are used for firing;
- The barrel of the gun has a length of 93 millimeters;
- The total length of the gun is 170 millimeters;
- The height of the gun is 127 millimeters;

- Maximum shooting efficiency is achieved at a distance of 5-7 meters from the target;

In order for the weapon to last longer and break less often, before using it is necessary to tackle the bore. In general, of course, it is made of high-quality stainless material, but in order to not harm the powder to it, it is necessary to carry out a thorough polishing with zero sandpaper. Special attention in this work will need to be given to the area where the transition from the barrel to the chamber is made. In general, after buying Wii, each owner will have to work a little with his hands if they want to get 100% quality and reliability.
What ammunition should I use?
First and foremost, every owner of a traumatic pistol Wii must understand one simple thing: it is recommended to use only certified cartridges that can be bought at any gun shop. For firing, 9mm RA charges are used here.
Unfortunately, no one can give any clear recommendations on the power of cartridges because each batch of pistols has a different bore diameter. The only thing that can be said for sure is that only weak or medium ammunition can be used with a standard return spring; to use powerful ones, the return spring needs to be replaced.
That is why before using this weapon as the main means for self-defense, it is recommended to carefully select the optimal type of ammunition at the training ground specifically for your model. It will also allow you to get used to the pistol and learn to conduct from it the most accurate shooting.
What can be concluded?
Since the release of the first batch of Vija to the market, 14 years have passed, and over the course of this long time, this weapon has received many reviews: some of them are positive, some are negative. Of course, it is impossible to make your choice only from reviews, it is better to make sure of everything yourself.
As mentioned above, in order to purchase a high-quality Wii, you need to choose a gun made on the basis of the new PM. To do this, follow the list of items that will allow you to make a choice in favor of a better model.
You also need to clearly understand that the perfect weapon to buy will not work. Like everything else in our world, this traumatic pistol has certain disadvantages that every owner will have to get used to. In addition, no one has canceled the fine-tuning of the instrument, which must be done carefully and slowly, so as not to harm the weapon.
In general, the Wii traumatic pistol is a high-quality weapon, a good adaptation of the Makarov military pistol. It can be safely used as the main weapon for civil self-defense. With proper operation, the use of correct cartridges and regular cleaning this tool will serve you for many years.
