ZIL-4502 - a shortened version of the legendary truck ZIL-130, which is used in the industrial sector. General information about ZIL-4502

The first versions of the family had many flaws. The government needed a large batch of trucks to recover from the war. In 1956, a modified version of the 130th model was sent to mass production. The 130th generation has received many awards at the international exhibition.

Based on the standard version, many modifications have been developed, including the ZIL-4502. The largest number of species released in the period from 1966 to 1977. Engine compartment

In the initial stages of development, engineers used a 5.2-liter power unit, working along with a two-chamber carburetor. Six cylinders located in a V-shape. At 3.2 thousand revolutions, the power of 135 horsepower developed. Practical tests of the first prototype showed that there is not enough power to complete the tasks and stable work.

The old power plant was improved: the volume was increased to 6 liters, eight cylinders were installed, the shape of which was preserved. The new power unit at 3.2 thousand revolutions developed up to 150 horsepower. At 1.6-1.8 thousand revolutions, the maximum torque was reached - 402 Nm.

The design is complemented by an economizer and a mechanical pump for acceleration. The mechanical pump includes a pneumatic regulator of the crankshaft speed of the centrifugal type. For lubrication of engine parts meets the combined system (the lubricant is supplied under pressure and spray). The lubricant undergoes a deep filtration process (performed by a mechanism consisting of thin steel plates).

The fuel pump is responsible for the forced feeding of the power unit. It consists of an exhaust and two intake valves. Blowing the crankcase is a closed way. For air purification filter VM-16 is used. When working on the ZIL-4502 engineers managed to reduce fuel consumption to 28 liters per 100 kilometers. The tank holds 125 liters of AI-76 gasoline.

Gearbox and transmission

The drive is carried out on the rear axle of the truck. Dry clutch consists of one disc. Manual gearbox with a constant hook gear speeds (except the first and rear) has five stages. Two synchronizers are installed: at 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 speeds. The driveshaft transmits torque from the transaxle to the rear axle. ZIL-4502 dump truck is a shortened version of the base 130th model, in its design there is one shaft without intermediate support. The driven shaft is equipped with a front bearing.

The shift knob received a rubber boot. It protects the gearbox from liquid ingress when overcoming water obstacles and heavy rains. Many parts of the transmission are lubricated with a special paste for added protection. For ventilation transmission there is a special tube. Cast iron was used to manufacture the gearbox housing, which made it possible to increase the working resource supply.

Brake system

All wheels of the transport are equipped with drum brakes. The pneumatic system is responsible for their work. A mechanical-type compressor provides constant pressure in the tank with a reserve of air for the brake system. The compressor is driven by a water pump pulley. The speed of the two cylinders of the compressor - 2 thousand revolutions per minute (220 liters per minute).

Liquid cooling system. The device has two cylinders of 20 liters. The parking brake used to hold the vehicle on the descent, locks the drive shaft in the activated state.

Wiring diagram

Electrical appliances operate at a voltage of 12 volts. The battery is responsible for the power supply at 90 amph and the generator, which produces 60 A. The non-contact voltage regulator PP350-A (3702) is made in the semiconductor type.

What can be concluded?

Production ZIL-4502 discontinued many years ago, but copies in working condition are still in service. Used on construction sites and in agriculture. The advantages of the car include:

  • Low requirements for technical liquids;
  • Compact size. They allow you to easily move around the city even at rush hour;
  • Simple maintenance, repair is easily carried out in the field with the help of available tools;
  • High prevalence of parts;

  • Low maximum truck speed that does not meet modern requirements;
  • Low payload;
  • Frequent breakage due to big age;
