Rareness is no longer the process when an old firearm is converted into a traumatic one. Such a product on the market is of particular interest to buyers. The most popular are those species that have already been discontinued and have long been gathering dust in the warehouse.
For example, these include traumatic pistols made on the basis of a TT or on the basis of Stechkin. Once they were a great tool, but in our years they have simply become outdated, so they are allowed to retrain into a traumatic weapon.
Traumatic revolvers, which are based on combat Nagant, can be attributed to a separate popular category. Traumatic Nagan-M revolvers are especially popular, because their foundation was made more than 50 years ago ...
How to treat this process?
Each person evaluates differently the conversion of rare combat weapons into travmatiku. The main argument of the opponents of such a case is that historical objects "irrevocably deteriorate." But what is better: get a second life or go to recycling? The fact is that museums and collectors do not need so many historical pistols, so they simply will soon be sent from warehouses to complete destruction.
In addition, reworking into a trauma allows many history buffs to get into their possession a piece of the old days, which can even shoot, even if not with the same power as a combat weapon.
Due to the painstaking work of the designers, the traumatic revolver Nagan, outwardly received a minimum of changes, it was even possible to preserve marks on the body that are of particular interest to history buffs, because it is possible to determine which path through life the weapon has overcome.
As for the performance characteristics of this pistol, they are more modest than its historical characteristics, but here, as they say, there is no companion’s taste and color. The main problem with this weapon is the ammo used when firing, which is the main cause of its low power.
General information about the Nagan-M trauma
In 2008, this traumatic revolver first appeared on the shelves of weapons stores. Its production was engaged in the famous factory "Hammer". It is worth noting that this weapon was not the first of its kind. So, as a basis for a traumatic revolver, Nagan was taken by another major weapon manufacturer - the IzhMash plant, who called his brainchild Naganych. Both pistols are based on a 1985 revolver.
Naganych at the time turned out to be a good tool, but with the condition that the buyer will make some improvements in it. That is why, as soon as his analogue appeared in 2008, two traumatic revolvers immediately began to compare with each other. Of course, the Nagan-M had a better build, but the cartridges used in them were different and all disputes were reduced to two things: which one is more powerful and which one is more qualitative?
All disputes are subjective. Those people who choose weapons for self-defense will certainly say that the one that is more powerful is better. Connoisseurs of history, of course, will judge revolvers by other criteria, so it is very difficult for any consensus to come, no matter what cartridges are used in both pistols.
What ammo is used in Nagan-M?
The Nagan-M is charged with the well-known 10x32TM cartridges, the simplified version of which was used in the Leader. It is necessary to use TM-charges, since there is only one bullet in them, which will not get stuck in the drum of the revolver, which is not the case with T-charges, which have two rubber bullets.
When fired, very low kinetic energy is generated. Because of this, you should not hope for this traumatic pistol as the main tool for civilian self-defense. The relative effect on contact can be achieved only in the warm period of the year, when the attacker may have relatively light clothing.
After the first years of sales at the factory "Molot" thinking about expanding the range of used cartridges. In order to be able to use 10x32T cartridges with two rubber bullets, the weapon suffered some changes in its design. The result was that sticking the second bullet into the drum was rare, but it still remained. The upgraded version was named Nagan-M-01.
When using 10x32T cartridges in firing, it is claimed that the kinetic energy will be 90-100 J. Very good power for travmatiki, but not at that. The fact is that 90-100 J is the sum of energy from two bullets, that is, one will have only 40-50 joules.
Many may say that this disadvantage compensates for the gun due to the fact that you can hit two bullets at the same time, but this is not as smooth as we would like. Even if both of them leave the trunk, there will be a wide variation between them. It turns out that one bullet can hit the target, and the second will fly past. Even a high skill of the shooter cannot affect this.
Because of this, it must be remembered that as a result of the shot, one bullet can get into the neck or groin of the attacker, which later aggravates the disassembly with justice, even if the shooting was in apparent self-defense.
Gun design Nagan-M
Anyone who is interested in weapons will be interested in the question, and what is the design of this revolver? The barrel, as such, is not in this gun. Instead, there is a simulator that was borrowed from the Leader. But if in the latter he had a terrible quality and can be bent easily, then in Nagan-M the barrel has excellent strength.
The inner diameter of the barrel is 11 millimeters, inside it there are special barriers that are made to prevent firing of solid objects, that is, live ammunition. If the diameter were smaller, the power of the weapon would be higher, but then the loads on the walls of the barrel would increase significantly, which would lead to a quick break.
But when using 10x32 cartridges, the strength of the barrel is enough for a long time, the owner will not encounter any damage to this particular design. It also perfectly tolerates various mechanical effects, such as falling on a hard surface.
The Nagan-M developers left the trigger mechanism unchanged, as they decided that this would have no effect on the operation of the traumatic element. In addition, this gun has received a heavy self-platoon, which is very similar to the original of the combat revolver. It will take some time to get used to it, so that you can conduct comfortable shooting, but this is an excellent guarantee against an accidental shot. This mechanism must be constantly monitored and cleaned, because in case of contamination the self-platoon will become even tighter.
If you seriously decide to use this weapon as the main one for self-defense, then you should understand that it uses far from the most powerful ammunition. Formally, due to low power, it can no longer be taken, but it still has a number of drawbacks that the owner will face regularly. Due to the size of the gun, it will not be possible to wear it covertly to a person with a skinny physique. In addition, there are many protruding elements on the case, especially the trigger, due to which Nagan-M cannot be quickly removed.
On the other hand, despite all the flaws, this weapon is very convenient. Having used it literally for a month, it will be very difficult for any person to get used to the new. Despite the age of the revolver, the handle is made flawlessly, no need to buy any extra overlays on the handle, so that the tool is more comfortable in the hand. Probably, this is the only thing that can be distinguished in this traumatic revolver, therefore, if you buy, then definitely not for self-defense, but for storing in your collection things with historical value.
