Russia and Iran are in the regular sanctions list of the United States as allies of Syria. But, apparently, both of these states decided not to lose heart, but simply to slam the door on the dollar.
The Russian ambassador to Teheran officially stated that from now on only the ruble and rial will be used in mutual settlements between countries. And as an exception - the euro. Similar processes of abandoning the US currency and the emphasis in the calculations on national currency units have already been launched with China, India and Turkey.
By the way, the European Union also does not want to pay in dollars for its own products inside. Experts are sure: Iran and Russia will demonstrate to OPEC that you can do without dollars.

Iran abandoned the dollar and switched to the euro in the spring of 2018. So, all oil transactions are already conducted in a single European currency when oil is traded with India. The European Union also intends to abandon the dollar when paying for Iranian oil. Saudi Arabia is already thinking of following Iran’s example.
In the foreseeable future, Turkey and India are planning to switch between liras and rupees.
