In Ukraine, the global modernization of the T-64 tank for the 2017 model was held. In addition, the APU have already received about hundreds of vehicles for service.
The tank is made on the basis of the Kharkov Armored Plant ("Ukroboronprom"). The T-64 is the main combat vehicle of the armored units of the Ukrainian army. After modernization, its combat capabilities increased due to new thermal imagers, digital radio stations, satellite navigation aids and new dynamic protection.
According to "Ukroboronprom", when upgrading, modern night observation devices with a third-generation electronic-optical converter are integrated into the combat vehicle. The gunner’s sighting system includes an integrated thermal imager, which provides for the detection, recognition and destruction of the enemy with a 125-mm cannon at any time of the day and in all weather conditions.
In addition, the T-64 2017 model received a new dynamic protection, significantly increasing the level of protection of the combat vehicle and effectively counteracting all modern anti-tank weapons, both cumulative and armor-piercing, as well as impact-cumulative munitions.
