The general public has learned about the developments of the new super-screw for the needs of the US Army from the British press. According to the US military, these small arms should replace the legendary M-16.
The main difference between the new rifle system developed for the American army is that it decided to use 6.8 mm cartridges instead of 5.56, as in the M-16.
New assault rifle will be somewhat heavier than its predecessor. However, it will increase the accuracy of hitting the bullet. In addition, a shot from it will have a great penetrating power. According to the developers, the bullet from the new super-screw will be able to penetrate any body armor.
However, many experts call such a statement somewhat overconfident.
It is noteworthy that the alternative was also considered at the Pentagon. There was a proposal to upgrade M-16. However, the American generals decided to still get a qualitatively new weapon of an innovative nature.
Experts clarify that the introduction of new small arms will not cause fundamental tactical changes in the actions of American soldiers.
The first deliveries of the assault "super-screw" to the US Army are expected in the summer of 2019. Comprehensive rearmament of the American army is planned to begin in 2023.
