In recent years, the TT pistol strongly attracts many manufacturers of traumatic weapons, which adapt this combat weapon to traumatic cartridges. Probably every company, one way or another, tried to do it. What can I say about the MP 81? If you compare this gun with the Leader complex, then it will lead. If we compare it with TT-T, which has long been discontinued, it will be inferior. Thus, we can safely say that the MP 81 is a middling on the traumatic market.
general information
The manufacturer of this gun is the well-known company IzhMech, which owns many types of traumatic weapons. This sample appeared on the market in 2008, it immediately alerted many potential buyers, since IzhMech has a very low quality control of weapons for civilian self-defense at the exit from the conveyor.
The interest in combat TT, as a platform for adaptation to traumatics, is quite understandable:
- The weapon has a recognizable design, it is known, probably, by everyone: from the youngest to the most senior. It plays a certain psychological role in self-defense;
- The TT has a convenient device and a scheme that allow you to quickly retrofit it to traumatic cartridges. If we compare it with the adaptation of other combat pistols for travmatiku, then with this you need to do the least amount of work;
- In military depots are many copies of TT, which are no longer used in the service. Nobody wants to take them away, and no one is engaged in cheating, so the copies are given to manufacturers of traumatic equipment.
I want to say that this weapon, in combat or traumatic form, is not very suitable for regular self-defense. The main reason for this is its size.
If we talk specifically about the MP 81, then it has undergone major changes in the design than other "ports". The very first thing that catches the eye of every consumer is a modified handle. The fact is that at the IzhMech plant for some reason they decided to place the MR-79-9T store in this gun, having refused the original TT store.
Specifications:
- 9 mm PA cartridges are used;
- The length of the gun is 195 millimeters;
- The length of the gun barrel is 116 millimeters;
- The height of the gun is 120 millimeters;
- The width of the gun is 30 millimeters;
- The weight of the discharged gun is 850 grams;
- Shop holds 8 charges.
Of course, the modified store had no effect on the comfort of using this gun, but the appearance was spoiled. People who wanted to buy a TT in a traumatic sheath, and not a weapon for self-defense, had to abandon this model. The experts did not understand why it was necessary to abandon the original store, if it was possible to simply adapt it for 9 mm RA cartridges, which would have cost much less IzhMech production resources.
Gun design
As with other adaptations of the combat weapon for travmatiku, it was not possible to preserve the original scheme of work. The fact is that cartridges for travmatiki have much less energy, which would not be enough to activate the work of the scheme of military weapons.
The first changes were made in the area of the gun barrel. So, from the barrel and the housing-bolt were removed all the tabs as unnecessary. The barrel is now securely attached to the body of the gun through a sturdy frame.
The pistol MP 81, in general, retained all the main components from the combat counterpart, except for the barrel, which makes it a very reliable tool. But when choosing traumatics you need to pay attention, just, to the barrel, since it is the basis of such weapons. To be sure that the gun will serve for many years, you need to pay attention to the year of the release of the combat equivalent: it is desirable that it be from the last games.
Cartridges for MP 81 are selected in the same way as for other traumatic pistols. For self-defense in real conflict situations, you need to choose the most powerful cartridges. For training, entertaining or sports shooting, you need to choose weak cartridges whose energy does not exceed 50 J. The pistol MP 81 will serve for many years, if you choose the ammunition correctly and responsibly.
Safety of use of MP 81
We can not say about the safety of the use of this gun, because it is worth paying special attention to. When fully disassembling the gun, it immediately becomes clear that there is no fuse. And this disease is inherent in both the TT itself and all traumatic counterparts.
The role of the fuse here plays a safety platoon of the trigger. Honestly, the design is not the most reliable. In theory, of course, it should protect the owner from an accidental shot, both in a pocket or a holster, and in case of an accidental fall, but this is just a theory, in practice everything turns out to be completely different.
It must be remembered that manufacturers of traumatics get old TTs, which have already been used by someone for years. It follows that the mechanisms of the gun already have a certain wear, which increases the possibility of an accidental shot, especially in the fall. Therefore, such a construction does not give 100% reliability from an accidental shot. Most of all, the law that prohibits carrying such a weapon with a cartridge in the chamber will protect the person from accidental firing. But no one prohibits wearing a charged store.
What can be concluded?
As I said at the beginning of the review, the MP 81 pistol occupies a solid middle position in the Russian traumatic market. It is better than the Leader complex, but inferior to the TT-T. If we go into details, it becomes clear that all three types are very different from each other: this fact becomes especially clear after the complete disassembly of all three pistols. The main differences are precisely in the design, especially in the device trunk. The store capacity and used cartridges are also different.
If we talk about the similarity with its progenitor, then the MP 81 ranks here last. This, of course, is not a minus, but simply a fact that speaks of major changes in the structure of the "port" of a military pistol. Despite all this, the gun has a good quality, after the purchase you do not need to carry out tuning of the MP 81, since everything was already done at the factory.
