Google will no longer engage in weapons, but the current contract will not terminate

The head of Google Cloud, Diana Green, recently announced her company's plans to continue commitments under the Project Maven contract, which was concluded in early autumn 2017. The head of Google Cloud also added and stressed that all agreements will be fulfilled according to the company's beliefs and principles in the field of the evolution of artificial intelligence.

A little earlier, Google CEO, Sundar Pichai showed the public a list of the basic principles of an artificial intelligence development corporation, in which he made it clear that the company agrees to engage and even will help develop weapons. After this statement, a large number of Google employees opposed cooperation with the US Department of Defense and the Pentagon in particular. In addition, in early March, it became widely known that the company, with the help of its modern developments in the field of artificial intelligence, was already processing video data from the UAVs of the Ministry of Defense, which further tuned workers to new protests.

Diana Green told all the protesters that any development that the company leads in conjunction with the Pentagon will help save lives in the future and will not bring anything wrong with them. Artificial intelligence is used to facilitate the work of employees of the Ministry of Defense to help better process and analyze information. Moreover, as Diana Green said, the company is not going to continue to renew the contract, but simply intends to fulfill the terms of the agreement to the end.

At the moment, Google is not in very good conditions, especially considering the fact that such giant companies as Amazon, Microsoft and Oracle are taking the tail, who with great pleasure will take away all the main government contracts in the field of modern technologies. But alas, Google employees believe that it’s unacceptable for their company to engage in military developments and they are no longer going to participate in this.
