According to TASS, the sea trials of both submarines took a break due to ice conditions on the seas; all proper trials will be continued in spring and will be completed this summer.
It is noteworthy that it was originally planned to complete the testing of submarines at the end of 2018. However, during the verification process some corrections occurred And it was decided that the tests of new submarines will last somewhat longer than their "classmates". This is due to the large volume of testing of new systems installed on upgraded submarines.
Recall, "Kazan" is the first nuclear submarine, which is being built according to the improved project "Yasen-M". Changes and technical solutions implemented in the project concern the element base of radio engineering armament complexes, modernized equipment and materials, as well as fundamentally new architectural features of the hull. The Kazan is a multipurpose submarine armed with Caliber cruise missiles or Onyx supersonic.
As for the second submarine - "Prince Vladimir", this is the lead submarine of the improved project 955A. Project 955 and 955A submarines (Borey and Borey-A, respectively) were developed by the Central Design Bureau of Marine Engineering Rubin (St. Petersburg). Differences between Projects 955 and 955A are unknown, however, according to data from open sources, the Borea-A has modernized the hull designs, uses new electronics, and in addition, Project 955A boats have lower noise levels and other characteristics that can be detected by enemy ships . The main armament of this submarine is the ballistic missiles of the Bulava submarines.
