Spain decided to contribute to the creation of the last generation fighter

Two countries of the Old World, Germany and France, once expressed a desire to create a European fighter of the latest class. And in less than a few months, Madrid decided to join this initiative of Paris and Berlin.

Recall, the Franco-German fighter project of the near future is known in the world as the New Generation Weapon System (NGWS). Spain, in turn, intends to join the project as a third country. And for the sake of solidity, she is ready to invest 25 million euros in it over the next couple of years.

By the way, NGWS is a promising fighter. In the foreseeable future, it should replace the Typhoon and Rafale combat aircraft in service with European countries.

At the moment in Europe there are two projects to create a fighter: the French-German and the British called Tempest.

In April of this year, the Franco-German concept was demonstrated at the Berlin Air Show. According to the developers, the plane should be piloted, though, but to have a wide use of artificial intelligence. His main goal - to manage escort drones. In addition, the aircraft should be able to carry nuclear weapons. And if necessary, use the aircraft carrier as a base.

The serial production of the fighter is scheduled for the beginning of the 2040s.
