During a major special operation, 86 citizens were detained and 9 illegal workshops were terminated. The operation was carried out throughout the country. It was attended by units of the FSB, the Interior Ministry and the Rosguards.
In accordance with the information provided by the public relations center of the FSB, this operation was conducted simultaneously in 32 regions of the country. During the events, law enforcement officers seized 198 firearms, including 126 pistols, 18 machine guns, etc.
In addition, during searches, grenades, including fragmentation ones, 33 kg of explosives, detonators, about 10,000 cartridges of different caliber and more than 9,000 components for their production were seized.
During the operation, the security forces located 9 underground workshops that carried out illegal modification and production of weapons and ammunition. The activities of the discovered workshops terminated.
Such acts of illegal gunsmiths fall under the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the illicit trafficking of weapons and explosives. At present, the investigation is addressing the issue of initiating criminal cases. Operational activities continue to this day.
