Missile news for the troops: plans for 2019

In 2019, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will test about 200 types of rocket weapons. The tests will be performed at the Kapustin Yar test site located in the Astrakhan region.

The total number of expected tests is commensurate with the volumes of 2018 and is 1.5 times higher than the volume of tests that were performed in 2017.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation noted that tests were performed not only in the interests of the military department, but also of a number of others at this proving ground. A large number of studies carried out at the test site relate to the improvement of methods for protecting military and civilian objects and weapons from reconnaissance assets and targeting systems of the enemy’s precise weapons. In addition, research is being conducted on new types of weapons and special equipment.

Polygon Kapustin Yar allows you to perform testing of military equipment in different climatic conditions. Its facilities are located in Russia and Kazakhstan. The total area of land intended for testing is 9.5 million hectares.
