Abe will not conclude a peace treaty with Russia without defining the border

During his speech in the House of Representatives (the lower house of the Japanese parliament), the head of the Japanese government, Shinzo Abe, made a statement that there would be no signing of a peace treaty with the Russian Federation until a clear border marking, in other words, its demarcation occurs.

In the course of communication, one of the deputies asked about the possibility of signing a treaty, provided that Russia transfers only two islands to Russia - Habomai and Shikotan, noting that the subject of negotiations is all islands, and there are four of them. Abe answered this assumption with a categorical refusal.

Earlier it was reported that during the Eastern Economic Forum, the President of the Russian Federation proposed the head of the Japanese government to sign a peace treaty without any additional conditions, but in response, he heard that this was unacceptable for the Japanese side and no border would be signed without a definition.
