Russian developers of aviation technology have begun to create a new high-altitude long-range fighter. Work on a promising machine are specialists of the aircraft manufacturing corporation "MiG".
According to the most optimistic forecasts, the developed interceptor can enter into service with the aerospace forces of the Russian Federation in the second half of the 2020s.
The long-range intercept aviation complex is being developed to replace the long-range fighter MiG-31 (according to the NATO classification Foxhound - “Fox Hound”).
At present, work on its creation is being initiated by the MiG corporation, there is no talk about concluding a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. It is expected that the developed aircraft will be created using completely new technologies. The design and production activities of the new machine are synchronized with the completion of the planned resource of the long-range interception fighter MiG-31.
The concept being developed by the long-range interception aircraft complex has received the code name MiG-41. It is not excluded that in addition to solving problems in airspace, the aircraft will be able to perform tasks in near space.
The double supersonic all-weather long-range interceptor MiG-31 was adopted in 1981. The maximum speed is more than 2 Mach numbers. The aircraft is designed to intercept and destroy air targets in the entire range of speeds at extremely small, small, medium and high altitudes, in simple and adverse weather conditions, when approaching an air target in the front and rear hemisphere, as well as at an angle of 4/4.
