The military are testing plasma guns that make a loud sound.

The US military is developing a completely new type of weapon that can force opponents to retreat. It does not have a deadly effect, but uses an incredibly loud sound. The creation of weapons engaged the division of the Ministry of Defense of the United States of America Joint Non-Lehtal Weapons Program. The principle of operation is based on the plasma state, which does not belong to any of the three physical ones.

In this state, large energy emissions separate electrons from atomic nuclei, which makes it possible to obtain ions. The result is a special matter, possessing not only electrical qualities, but also magnetic. It can take the form of light.

This weapon suggests the possibility of firing in small flashes of directed high energy. The duration of one flash does not exceed a nanosecond, which is one billionth of a second. Plasma is created in a spherical shape of blue. The rest of the released energy controls this ball, producing a loud sound of 130 dB, which can be compared to a fighter passing by.

"Were made tests in the laboratory at a distance of about 100 m. Now work is underway to increase the range of the damaging force," a JNLWP representative shared his impressions.

Total for this project was spent about 3 million dollars. Physical Optics and GEOST also participated in the development. It is noted that research is not the first in this area. As early as 2002, the development of the Pulsed Energy Projectile project, aimed at creating a sound source that would cause the enemy to lose balance, began. He was planned to be presented to the public in 2007, but information about him no longer appeared. Also, nothing else is known about the project of anti-tank weapons of a similar principle of action, which was called Plasma Point Defense.

Recently, laser weapons have been developing at a crazy pace. In the near future, a working prototype of this weapon should be made. While engaged in the refinement of this technology.
