Chinese engineers have developed an electric motor for the railgun

Chinese Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation has come to the final stage of developing new electric motors. They are intended for use in railguns and installations for launching ballistic missiles. According to information from the publication Global Times, several copies are already at the disposal of one of the military structures.

Engines operating on the electronic principle have already become widespread in a wide variety of combat systems: artillery turrets, turning mechanisms of tracked vehicles, wheels of mobile installations. When developing each electric motor all operational properties are taken into account.

The latest Chinese design will have good impact resistance and protect against electromagnetic radiation.

These electric motors are collector ones: they are equipped with special brush-collector units. Thanks to these elements, the transfer of electricity from the fixed to the mobile part is ensured. The principle of operation is based on direct current.

But many details about the new product have not been disclosed yet. It is known that this design is great for military equipment. Firstly, there is no need to use complex control systems, and secondly, if necessary, they are quickly and easily manufactured.

But there are also negative aspects of this technology: such engines wear out in a short time.

The new development of Chinese engineers plan to use a variety of railgun systems and lifting systems for launching ballistic missiles.

Chinese ship railgun

More recently, it was reported that Chinese scientists are already engaged in testing a unique ship railgun, which was installed on a large ship, the Hayanshan. The PRC succeeded in becoming the first in this sphere, because previously no military structure of other countries could carry out such projects. Recall that the railgun is an electromagnetic mass accelerator that accelerates a conductive projectile along two metal guides using the Ampere force.
