US authorities and Qatar signed an agreement on the expansion of the US military airbase El Udeid in Doha.
According to TASS, the signing took place on January 13. What, in fact, was announced at the joint press conference of US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and Qatar Foreign Minister Mohammed Bin Abdel Rahman Al Tani.
In his speech, the US Secretary of State thanked the Qatar authorities for understanding American interests and providing the territory for a military base.
Recall that the Doha military base will expand, as early as the middle of last summer, Qatari Defense Minister Khaled bin Mohammed al-Attiyah said. It is noteworthy that the reconstruction of the American base from the budget of Qatar will be allocated about 1.8 billion dollars.
By the way, there are about 11,000 US and coalition countries permanently. Officially, the base is necessary for conducting anti-terrorist operations against ISIS (banned in the Russian Federation).
