In March, a couple of fifth-generation F-35A multi-purpose debut fighters will arrive in South Korea. About that reports TSAMTO with reference to the South Korean agency Yonhap.
The question of the delivery of fighters from Texas to South Korea was decided quietly, privately so as not to disturb the calm on the peninsula. Although some experts believe that the point is not the fear of heating relations with North Korea, but banal corruption. They say it was not without bribery on the part of representatives of the Presidential Administration Park Geun-hye, who in the summer of 2018 was sentenced to 25 years in prison for corruption crimes at the highest state post.
Recall, the fifth-generation F-35 fighters were developed in three versions: F-35A for the Air Force (with standard take-off and landing), F-35B for the Marine Corps (with a shortened take-off and vertical landing) and F-35C for the Navy (taking off from using the aircraft carrier's catapult and landing using the arresting gear).
F-35s should become the main fighters of the first half of the 21st century in at least 12 countries of the world - the USA, Great Britain, Australia, Turkey, Italy, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands and Denmark, Israel, Japan and South Korea.
