Today, almost all of the states that are technologically advanced in military terms are armed with air defense systems. They protect the airspace, providing protection against intrusion. Nowadays there are various types of air defense systems:
- Air;
- Ground;
- Shipboard
All of them are created with the only task: to recognize an enemy target earlier than it will produce destructive or intelligence actions, and to eliminate it.
Reliable defense
The main air shield of economically developed countries is the modern anti-aircraft missile system. Most often it is a combination of the most complex engineering and technical means in a single system designed to prevent an air or space attack.
The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world with unlimited defense potential. In the near future, a modern anti-aircraft missile system, the S-500, will come to its defense. This promising Russian complex can surprise any likely adversary.
Features of the C-500
The first steps towards the creation of a modern anti-aircraft anti-aircraft missile system were made in the distant Soviet era. Then the Soviet Union adopted the new anti-aircraft complex of the long-range C-200, which was created in the design bureau of Grushin as early as 1965.
The second stage of the work was the appearance of the S-300 complex, which was adopted by the Soviet air defense system in 1975. ZRK S-300 - the brainchild of designer V.P. Ephraim. The main task of this complex is the defense of particularly important administrative-territorial units, as well as industrial facilities. With it, different goals, both ballistic and aerodynamic, should be reflected.
The third stage was the "Triumph" S-400 - the newest to date, the air defense system, which is in service with the Russian army. With its help, any aerial targets are detected and captured - from stealth aircraft to ballistic missiles. "Triumph" was put into service in 2007.
The S-500 SAM system was developed in 2012, and its entry into the troops was planned for 2015-2016. It is assumed that this complex will be the main type of armament of the air defense forces of the Russian state in the foreseeable future.
Creating a new complex
The first stage of the development of the fifth-generation anti-aircraft missile complex was launched in 2010. At that time, the preliminary preparation activities had just begun, but already in 2011, the designers and engineers of the Almaz-Antey research and production concern completed this work. The team planned a completely new complex, capable of hitting not only targets at low altitudes, but even spacecraft in Earth orbit.
By the end of 2012, the first anti-aircraft missile for the S-500 was assembled. After some time, gave the "good" and the first prototype, for which these missiles were developed. Past successful tests confirmed the hopes of developers.
Main tasks
The fifth generation C-500 missile system performs three main tasks:
- Security;
- Intercept;
- Liquidation.
With all these tasks, the complex copes great. S-500 has unique characteristics:
- It is protected from targeting systems and radio detection, as well as from any system that creates different types of interference for the missile and its targeting. As a result, the enemy will not be able to escape from interception and elimination. This is a special pride of developers;
- Interception of any flying objects is ensured at a distance of up to 3500 km and at a maximum altitude of up to 50 km. For comparison: the praised American “Patriot” is able to “reach” a high-flying object only up to 24 km;
- Provides the elimination of the most modern means of air combat. Russian developers have achieved incredible performance. The S-500 air defense system can easily be fought with low-orbit satellites, orbital platforms, hypersonic cruise missiles, airplanes and UAVs.
Potential C-500
The multifunctional complex S-500 synchronously leads up to twenty targets and is capable of simultaneously firing up to forty, using its own guidance system and external target designation. The complex intercepts a wide variety of objects flying at a speed of more than 7 km / s. At a distance of 600 km, the S-500 system simultaneously strikes up to ten objects.
The transfer of the marching complex to the position of full combat readiness and launch of a rocket takes ten minutes, the terrain relief does not matter. The stabilization system allows the S-500 to launch a rocket, even with a 30 degree roll angle.
The complex is equipped with heavy-duty portable radars that have no analogues in the world. With their help, you can detect objects at a distance of 1000 kilometers with the lowest height of 5 meters and a limit of 50 kilometers. On the land complex there is a system for increasing the maneuverability, as well as adaptation to the harsh Russian climatic conditions.
TTX complex
The mass of the S-500 SAM system is fifty-four tons. The weight of the cargo transported in full combat readiness is thirty-three tons, and the tractor itself weighs twenty-one tons. All ten wheels of a five-axle tractor are drivers, of which two front wheels are steering. The power diesel unit has a capacity of 550 l / s.
The limiting height of the surmounting bridging bridging reaches 1.7 meters. For the first time, the mobile chassis for the C-500 was presented in 2012 at a demonstration of Russian military equipment. It turned out to be the first mobile chassis for the SAM system, which has a 10x10 wheel formula. Due to the fact that the complex is not yet in service, most of its technical characteristics remain classified.
Tests of the latest ZRK
In 2014, the Russian armed forces conducted test activities of one of the prototypes of the S-500. From competent sources, it became known that the newest Russian anti-missile weapons have become the best on the planet. It bypassed its characteristics system "Patriot-3" and THAAD.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the complex of tests was carried out very successfully, the S-500 coped with all the tasks. Although the performance of the complex is still classified, it is considered the best of all avant-garde air defense systems available. From the report of the Russian Defense Ministry, military experts concluded that this fifth-generation complex could, for at least the next 10-15 years, remain the best in the world.
S-500 - a reliable shield of Russia
At present, the airspace of the state is guarded by two anti-aircraft missile systems, the S-300 and S-400. The first of these, the S-300, despite the many modifications, is already lagging behind today's global competitors. It is assumed that after the arrival of the S-500 of the "three hundredth" into the troops, it will be completely removed from service. On combat duty will leave the fourth and fifth generations of this complex.
American counterpart "Patriot"
At present, there are two anti-missile complexes in the world that are relatively similar in their TTX characteristics - the Russian Federation and the United States. In Russia, this is still S-400, and the American Patriot-3 complex has been recognized by many foreign experts to be the best in service in the world. He can "reach" the target at an altitude of up to twenty-four kilometers at a distance of up to five hundred kilometers. Its only known disadvantage is low permeability.
The Russian anti-aircraft defense sector should be the main priority for the state’s defense ministry; therefore, the early adoption of the S-500 system is so important for the Russian state. It should be an effective barrier to ensuring a peaceful sky.
