Four Russian military aircraft arrived in friendly Venezuela with their airplanes: two Tu-160 missile-carrying "strategists", an An-124 military transporter and an IL-62 long-range aircraft.
A warm welcome awaited our pilots at the Maiquetia International Airport. A ceremonial meeting was organized on the occasion of their arrival. Moreover, representatives of the Russian embassy and prominent Venezuelan political figures, including Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez, took part in the events.
Our planes have come a long and difficult way. Their flight ran over such seas as the Barents, Norwegian, Caribbean, as well as over the surface of the Atlantic - with a total length of more than 10,000 km.
And on some parts of this long journey, our heavy planes were accompanied by NATO fighter planes from the Norwegian Air Force F-16.
