How MBDA "Mistrali" get taught

French developers have reported that the new Mistral short-range anti-aircraft missile is capable of neutralizing not only air, but also surface targets. This will allow more efficient use of this system for a wider list of goals.

As told to the press in the press service of the company, at the end of last year, Mistrali have already proven themselves well in exercises in the Mediterranean area. The SIMBAD-RC coastal launcher fired a Mistral rocket at a moving target. As a result, the speedboat, speeding at a distance of 3 km from the coast, was successfully hit.

By the way, in the basic version SIMBAD-RC uses missiles with infrared homing heads. The complex is equipped with a Sagem SP medium-wave thermal imaging camera and an additional wide-angle day-view camera. In addition, the system includes a compact terminal from which the operator can simultaneously control two SIMBAD-RC turrets.

"Mistral-3", in turn, must replace the "Mistral-2", which is in service with the army and navy of France.
