Russia is approaching the moment when it will finally be possible to create drones of the sixth generation. In various Internet sources, information appeared that a heavy unmanned vehicle called "Hunter" was rolling out. The network even got a picture from which one can draw conclusions about the appearance of the UAV.
So far it is impossible to assume the readiness of this development, because there is very little official information. Experts of the Sukhoi company began working on the project in October 2012 at the request of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. It is assumed that the unit will have a take-off weight of up to 20 tons.
Design features and specifications of the newest aircraft are not disclosed. At the moment it is known that some technologies of the heavy T-50 fighter will be used in the “Hunter”. Perhaps in the next couple of years, the first flight tests will begin.
According to the information presented at the forums, it can be concluded that the vehicle uses the principle of "flying wing", and the chassis consists of three racks. According to this technology, the Scat unmanned vehicle was created.
Unconfirmed sources report that the drone will be able to travel a distance of 6000 km. And if this information is true, then we can assume the presence of a turbojet dual engine.
Project Orion
Russian companies are conducting other similar developments. At the MAKS-2017 exhibition, the Kronstadt company presented a model of an export copy of the Orion unmanned aerial vehicle. The development of this project began in October 2011. The maximum take-off weight of the standard version is 1.2 tons, the flight duration is 24 hours, the flight altitude is 8000 meters.
The export version is called Orion-E. This drone can support flight for 24 hours, traveling 300 kilometers. It has a glider made only of composite materials.
