The Russian submarine drone Poseidon is designed to destroy NATO. American experts are solemnly convinced of this. They believe that these underwater vehicles will become another element of the Russian “Dead Hand”.
According to the American military, nuclear torpedoes "Poseidon" can end with the whole continent. At the same time, Russia will be able to use Poseidons even in the event of the complete destruction of its strategic command centers, and Washington is unlikely to want to pay the “radiation price” to protect, for example, the Baltic region, from the “Moscow grip”.
As noted by the publication Business Insider, in most cases, nuclear weapons can destroy an entire city, but Russia's latest torpedoes can wipe out an entire continent.
The main objective of the Poseidon, however, is more “propaganda” than military. According to experts, these drones are needed to convince Washington of the futility of attempts to "save" Eastern Europe from "Russian aggression." And so that the United States would not want to expose its coastal waters to long-term radiation contamination after strikes by Russian underwater unmanned aerial vehicles.
This is all the cunning of "Poseidon." For the United States, in fear of an underwater guided torpedo, may refuse to cover its allies in Europe, for example, the Baltic countries. And in the end - the North Atlantic bloc will disintegrate.
According to domestic experts, “Poseidon” can really be called “Doomsday weapon”.
Recall that in "Poseidon" a nuclear power plant with a practically unlimited range is used. In addition, its marching speed reaches 200 km / h. At the same time he will be able to work at a depth of about 1000 m. So, the device will be practically undetectable. "Poseidon" is designed to perform strategic tasks, and to destroy the enemy aircraft carrier groups.
The newest Russian underwater drones have low noise level, high maneuverability and are practically invulnerable to the enemy, which will allow them to hit a wide range of targets, including aircraft carrier groups, coastal fortifications and infrastructure. The multi-year test cycle of an innovative nuclear power plant for a drone was completed at the end of 2017.
