India buys 21 more MiG-29s from Russia

India intends to purchase another batch of 21 MiG-29 fighters from Russia. Negotiations are already underway. The transaction price - 847 million dollars. Each plane will cost customers about 40 million units of American money. Also in this amount will include weapons, equipment and personnel training.

Recall that the MiG corporation has been cooperating with India for over half a century. Armed with the country were various modifications of the MiG-21, MiG-23 and MiG-25. And now the country has purchased deck-based MiG-29K and KUB fighter jets (military training) for its Vikramaditya aircraft carrier and updated 63 standard MiG-29s to the UPG version.

The most important competitive advantage of the Russian fighter is the open architecture of the avionics. This means that both Russian and foreign equipment can be put on the plane. It all depends on the wishes of the customer.

The MiG-29K is equipped with 8 weapon suspension points. They can accommodate, for example, 6 medium-range air-to-air missiles or 4 anti-ship missiles. The fighter is also capable of disabling enemy radar and air defense: it has a target designation system for Kh-31P anti-radar missiles.
